Amigo – Improving Lives Through
Mobility
Amigo International, Inc based
out of Michigan was created back in 1968 by Al Thieme when he was inspired
to design a ‘friendly wheelchair’ to help a member of his family with MS.
Since then Amigo has become a brand-name power-operated vehicle, also known
as a mobility scooter, that helps thousands of people with mobility limitations.
Amigo POV/Scooters unique
hallmark distinction from many other mobility scooter is their total customization
capability. Amigo recognize that for full functionality to each individual,
an electric mobility scooter, must be fully adaptable in seat, leg and
arm measurements.
In addition to their personal
mobility POV/Scooter range, Amigo was the first mobility device manufacturer
to offer electric shopping carts to large retail outlets in the U.S., and
www.amigoshopper.com offers a
full commercial product line.
Today Amigo has a comprehensive
range of personal mobility scooters, including the Travelmate, Travelmate
RD, Amigo Classic FD, Amigo MC, and Amigo MCX. All these models are
lightweight and portable and prices start at just $1,294. The Amigo
MC is categorized as a best value solution as a Medicare Approved Device.
If a more robust mobility
scooter is required, then the following scooters may be more suitable:
Amigo RT Express, Amigo EXT350, and Amigo HD450. These models are
also halachically-approved for Orthodox Jewish Shabbat observance.
Amigo not only offer very
affordable scooters for sale, they also offer a rental option, and the
Travelmate model can be rented direct from as little as $25 a day, $99
a week or $199 a month. Rental scooters are shipped anywhere within
the United States, although 7-10 business days notification is required
prior to expected delivery date.
As safety is a paramount
issue, especially as many elderly people use electric mobility scooters,
Amigo also offer the SmartSensor on a number of models. The SmartSensor
is designed to minimize any collision incidents. It limits a scooter
to a top speed of 2.3 mph, detecting an individual up to 30 inches ahead
and gently slowing the motor to a gradual stop.
Amigo continues through its
excellence and innovation to improve lives and aid mobility.
